Top 5 Scenic Desinations
Here are the top 5+ most beautiful places I've been to. This is really just an excuse for me to show off my favorite photos 😀
*Honorable Mention: Seychelles
Seychelles is an African island nation in the Indian Ocean. It has the most beautiful pristine beaches I've ever seen. It's mostly famous because it's where celebrities have weddings and honeymoons. It's hard to get to and expensive but if you're looking for an out of the ordinary travel destination, this is it.
5: Tiger's Nest Monastery (Bhutan)
The hike to the monastery is the hardest physical thing I have ever done in my life. It took 6 hours (including time spent at the monastery). The hike is about 4 miles round trip with an elevation of 17,000 feet with 1600 rocky steps going up and down a gorge. I actually thought I was going to die multiple times. But the sense of accomplishment at the end was life affirming.
4: Hawaiian Sunsets (Hawaii)
I have been to four of the Hawaiian islands. The beach sunsets are beautiful on all of them.
3: Machu Picchu (Peru)
Some people hike for up to a week to get Machu Picchu. Those people are insane. There's a lovely train from Cusco to Machu Picchu that's only 3 hours. Once you get to the ruins, there's lots of hikes to see different areas. People were clearly much shorter and thinner back then. I barely fit in most of the structures. But walking around the ruins was surprisingly challenging. There were really steep areas with loose gravel so be careful.
2: Tulip Festival (Amsterdam)
The tulip gardens in the Netherlands are absolutely breathtaking. I have never seen so many colors in real life. We went to the Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, which is about an hour outside of Amsterdam. You can spend an entire day and not see all the flowers. They also have different flower exhibits. There are also tulip fields you can visit too but I LOVED the gardens. (I'm not exaggerating, I have hundreds of pictures of flowers.)
1: Cherry Blossoms and Fall Leaves (Japan)
Japan has two of the most beautiful things I have seen rolled into one country. The spring cherry blossoms and the fall leaves are stunning. When people ask me which one I think is prettier, I think it's like picking your favorite child. But if I HAD to pick one, I think I prefer the cherry blossoms. It has a subtle delicate elegance while the bright leaves have a 'look at me, look at me' showiness.
