A Weekend in Anaheim (Jin Concert + Disneyland)

When my sister found out Jin (from BTS) was having a solo concert, she was determined we would go. And like a pro, she got tickets! So we spent a weekend in Anaheim.

Friday

Our first stop after dropping off our bags at the hotel was The Source OC. It's basically a mall but everything is Korean. There are so many Korean restaurants and coffee shops and bakeries. It was hard to choose but we finally decided on the food court. There is an ordering machine that you can order from all the different stalls instead of going to each one individually. We got rice cake ramen, crab kimbap, and mushroom with rice. Everything was delicious.

We browsed some of the stores. There was a ton of Kpop stores. There was even a pop up store for BTS but the line was too long. We had a coffee break at Seed Water Coffee. I had the iced cinnamon honey latte and it was delish. They are famous for their bread and we got a few to try. The bread was super soft but I don't understand the obsession with bread in general. The croissants were flaky and buttery.

Jin's concert was at the Honda Center. We got amazing seats! Jin was so close that I didn't even have to zoom in to take pictures. The concert was incredible. The energy was super high. There was a  lot of audience interaction. The sets and costumes were awesome. It was such a fun concert!

I can't talk about a BTS concert without mentioning the fans. The BTS Army is legit the best fan club. It's popular to give "freebies" at the concerts. They could be cards, stickers, candy and even full blown gift bags with bracelets and charms and other goodies. I mentioned that I got my first ever gift bag with a friendship bracelet at the J-Hope concert. Well this time, we got four gift bags (each)! And a stack of cards. My favorite gift bag is a cloth bag that has Jin's concert logo on it. My sister ask the nice girl where she got the bags from. The girl said her mom printed the fabric with the logo and she hand sewed all the bags. My mouth dropped. This is dedication. I love the bag. I'm using it to hold all my BTS friendship bracelets. 🤣

Saturday

I met up with a couple of friends for lunch. We had Mediterranean food at Aleppo's Kitchen that was close to my hotel. The food was pretty good. But the company was excellent.

We got free tickets to Disneyland so we went. I'm pointing this out because I would not pay money to go to Disneyland.

We started at California Adventure. We went on the Cars ride which was pretty fun. I wasn't expect the crazy race at the end. The area is pretty cute, especially if you like the Cars movie (I'm neutral.) The Little Mermaid ride was super chill and a break from the heat. The Soaring Around the World Ride was pretty good. I LOVED the Soaring Over California ride when I was a kid. I think that ride is better than this one.

Then we headed over the Disneyland. It was time for dinner. I am not impressed with the food. We had a grilled cheese with tomato soup. And a bread bowl with pulled pork mac and cheese. I'm shocked my sister got this. This is the biggest pile of carbs I've ever seen. And a raspberry macaroon which was decent.

The Star Wars area is actually really cool. There's so many details. We went on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This is maybe the best ride I've ever been on. It's three parts with a combination of two different simulation rides with an area you walk through with actors in the middle. It's so well done and so realistic. There were fireworks when we came out of the ride. We had a perfect view.

We also went on some classic rides like Indian Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean. We ended the night with a pineapple dole whip which was delicious (exactly like the one we had in Hawaii.)

Sunday

I was researching cool places in the area and I saw many people recommended Okayama Kobo Bakery. It was near our hotel so we went. It's a Japanese French bakery with a few locations. The line was down the block! We waited 40 minutes. It was longer than the lines at Disney! The breads and pastries were amazing. I got the matcha sea salt cold brew and it was really good. Look how cute this bakery is. Even the box is so cute.

We had a few hours to kill before our flight. So we went to South Coast Plaza. It's across the street from the SNA airport. We had lunch at Paradise Dynasty which is a chain from Singapore. They are famous for xiao long bao (soup dumplings). The food was really decent. Look how cute the panda buns are.

It was a fun weekend in Anaheim. I'm always glad to be in SoCal. I spent my most formative years there and there's always fun memories. Here's one last picture of Jin just because.
